Executive Housekeeper & Household Support – Atherton Estate

Location: Atherton, California
Principals: Professional couple (50s)
Property: Newly constructed 14,000 sq. ft. private residence (3 levels with elevator)
Household Dynamic: Primarily the couple, with occasional visits from adult children (weekly or a few times a month). Regular hosting of guests for meals (a couple of times per week).
Travel: The family has a home in Seattle and plans for an additional property (Hawaii or New York). While this role is primarily for Atherton, awareness of potential coordination related to travel may be beneficial.

About Us: We are a professional couple seeking a dedicated and experienced Executive Housekeeper to manage and maintain our newly built, meticulously designed home in Atherton. We value privacy, attention to detail, and a harmonious living environment. While it’s primarily just the two of us, we enjoy hosting family and friends and require a home that is always welcoming and impeccably maintained.

The Opportunity: This is a unique opportunity for a top-tier housekeeping professional to take charge of a stunning new property. You will be instrumental in creating a smoothly run, organized, and pristine household. You will work closely with the family’s Chief of Staff on various household tasks, including vendor coordination, deliveries, special projects, and errands, ensuring seamless operations.

Core Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, approximately 35 hours per week.

  • Flexible Daily Hours: We are open to discussing and agreeing upon daily start and end times (e.g., 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, or 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM) based on mutual agreement.

Flexibility Required:

  • Occasional evening support on Fridays (e.g., 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM) and daytime support on Saturdays (e.g., 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM) will be required when adult children visit or for special occasions. This will be planned in advance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-Charge Housekeeping: Perform all aspects of museum-quality cleaning, organization, and upkeep for the entire 14,000 sq. ft. residence, ensuring all areas are pristine, presentable, and comfortable.

  • Morning Routine: Prepare a simple daily breakfast for the principals and clean the kitchen from the previous evening.

  • Daily Room Care: Once principals are downstairs, meticulously make beds, change linens as needed, tidy bedrooms and bathrooms, and maintain overall order.

  • Laundry Management: Expertly handle all household laundry, including fine linens, towels, and personal clothing, with attention to fabric care, ironing, and closet organization.

  • Kitchen & Pantry Management: Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and pantry. Monitor inventory of groceries and household supplies, placing orders as needed.

  • Vendor & Deliveries Coordination: Liaise with the Chief of Staff to manage appointments, oversee vendor work (e.g., maintenance, repairs), and receive deliveries.

  • Errand Running: Efficiently run household-related errands, including grocery shopping, dry cleaning, returns, and purchasing supplies.

  • Inventory Management: Keep track of household supplies (cleaning products, toiletries, linens, etc.) and proactively reorder to ensure stock levels are maintained.

  • Guest Readiness: Ensure the home is always prepared for guests, with special attention to guest suites and entertaining areas.

  • Special Projects: Assist with organizational projects, seasonal deep cleaning, and preparation for events as directed.

  • Confidentiality & Discretion: Uphold the highest level of confidentiality and discretion at all times.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Executive Housekeeper or similar role in a large private residence (10,000 sq. ft. or more). Experience in luxury hospitality (e.g., 5-star hotels) is a strong plus.

  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • Expertise in cleaning techniques for fine furnishings, delicate surfaces, and luxury finishes.

    • Proficient in laundry care, including stain removal and ironing.

    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

    • Proactive and resourceful, with the ability to anticipate the needs of the principals and the household.

    • Strong eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards.

    • Tech-savvy: Comfortable using smartphones, email, and text messaging for communication and coordination. A computer and phone will be provided.

  • Requirements:

    • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

    • Willing to undergo a thorough background check.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate: $50 – $75 per hour, dependent on experience (DOE).
