Description
A warm, close-knit family in Marin is seeking a kind, caring nanny / family assistant. They are living in Marin until September/October then permanently back in Rockridge (Oakland). They have a 1-year-old and are expecting a new baby in May. They also have an au pair who helps with childcare in the afternoon. The family would love to find someone who is looking for career growth and is comfortable transitioning from nanny to family assistant. When their second child arrives the role will be solely focused on childcare until baby is about 4-6 months old.
Nanny / FA responsibilities include coordinating and engaging in activities for the kids, child/family laundry, meal prep and/or preparing simple meals for the family a few times per week, running errands, and light tidying. Since they are looking for longevity, there will be opportunity for someone to take on some administrative/PA tasks in a few years after the kids start school.
Their ideal candidate is familiar and comfortable with newborn care, a great communicator, and most importantly friendly as well as discrete.
Experience Requirements
- 2 years minimum experience working as a private nanny / family assistant with excellent verifiable references
Educational Requirements
- English fluency
- Spanish fluency (strongly preferred but not required); 2nd preference for fluency in Thai
Qualifications
- COVID-vaccinated
- TB and Tdap
- CPR Certified
- Valid driver with clean record (family can provide household vehicle for work-related driving)
- Familiar and comfortable with newborn care
- Some flexibility and willingness to travel is a nice-to-have
- Warm, kind
- Discrete and respectful of family’s privacy
- Outdoorsy and active
- Energetic and can easily keep up with the children as they grow
- Excellent communication
- Looking for career growth from childcare to light PA tasks later down the road
- Can make a long term commitment (ideally 4+ years)
Responsibilities
- Help with childcare for both kids including newborn
- As second baby gets older the role will flex into nanny / family assistant with childcare in the morning and household tasks in the afternoons
- Planning engaging activities for the kids
- Driving to/from activities
- Preparing bottles / meals for the kids
- Light tidying (kids rooms, play areas, common spaces)
- Child laundry
Additional FA tasks (Au pair covering childcare in the afternoons):
- Running errands, grocery shopping, etc.
- Meal prep
- Cooking simple meals for the family a few times per week
- Family laundry
- The family is hoping for longevity so later down the road when the kids are in school their is growth for help with administrative tasks such as organizing calendars, scheduling appointments, vendor management, etc.
