Position: Caring Reliable Family Assistant Needed in Hillsborough
Schedule: Monday to Thursday 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. + Friday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (availability to stay later some evenings is appreciated)
Salary Amount or Range: $40-$45/hour D.O.E. + Standard benefits (paid vacation, sick days, holidays)

A super sweet, easygoing family in Hillsborough is seeking a Family Assistant to help with their three children, ages 8 (girl), 10 (girl) and 12 (boy) years old. Responsibilities include driving the children from school to activities, preparing dinner for the family a few nights per week as well as school lunches and snacks, children’s laundry, and light tidying. Their ideal candidate is caring and genuinely loves working with school-age children.

It’s important that candidates have a clean driving record and reliable vehicle (the family will reimburse for mileage). Ultimately the best person for them is nurturing and genuine, and actively engages with the children and takes interest in their day-to-day.

SCHEDULE: The family can provide 35 hours per week (Mon-Thurs 12-7p + Fri 11a-6p). Their children sometimes have activities into the evening (about 8 p.m.) so candidates who are open to some later hours is helpful, but not required.

Experience Requirements

• 2 years minimum experience working as a Family Assistant with excellent verifiable references

• 5-7 years professional work experience post-college (can be mix of childcare and other work)

Educational Requirements

• Fluency in English

• CPR Certified
• Safe driver with clean record and reliable vehicle for work-related driving (family will reimburse for mileage)

• Keeps devices / screens to a minimum

• Can make at least a year commitment

Responsibilities

• Handle pick up / drop offs (school, activities, etc.)
• Cooking simple dinner a few nights per week for the family
• School lunch/snack prep for the kids
• Meal planning and grocery shopping
• Daily laundry for the kids
• Light tidying (straightening up, dishes, etc.)
• Reinforcing rules / homework completion with kids
• Family calendar / scheduling help for the kids (activities, appointments, carpools, etc.)
• Light pet care – occasional dog walking/feeding throughout the week (nice to have but not required)
