A welcoming, kind family in Belmont is seeking an experienced Nanny / Family Assistant to care for their bright, sweet, and highly verbal 6-year-old son and provide household support. Responsibilities include after-school pick-up, supporting socio-emotional development, engaging in play or reading, light cooking / meal prep, tidying, and family laundry. As this is a long-term position, the time spent on nanny vs. family assistant duties will naturally evolve as the child gets older.
The best person for them is patient, nurturing, emotionally grounded, and dependable. The candidate should genuinely enjoy supporting kids and families, and see themselves as a steady, positive role model for their son. This is a deeply valued position in their household, and they are committed to a partnership grounded in open communication, mutual respect, and genuine appreciation.
Experience Requirements
- 3 years minimum working as a nanny / family assistant with excellent verifiable references
- Strong expertise in school-aged children (ages 5+)
Educational Requirements
- Fluency in English
- Child development / ECE background preferable but not required
Qualifications
- COVID-vaccinated preferred (ok if not up to date on latest booster but having done full course at some point preferred)
- TB and Tdap
- CPR Certified
- Excellent driver, with valid license and clean record (ideally with personal vehicle for work-related driving; family will reimburse for mileage and provide a car seat)
- Gentle (but not permissive) caregiving approach
- Genuinely enjoys supporting kids and families
- Familiar supporting child with peanut allergy
- Patient and supportive of child’s emotional and social development
- Positive role model for child
- Familiar with child-led play
- Excellent communication
- Seeking at least a year commitment; ideally longer
Responsibilities
- Safe pick-up and drop-off of child from school and scheduled activities
- Create age-appropriate enriching activities, engage in reading, etc.
- Supporting child’s homework and afternoon routine
- Meal prep / light cooking for the family (peanut allergy)
- Family laundry
- Light tidying (child’s room, play areas, common spaces)
- *Option for additional household chores or errands if seeking extra hours, such as meal prep for family, family laundry, dropping / picking up dry cleaning & packages, etc.
