Schedule: Monday to Friday 1/1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. (40 hours guaranteed weekly)
Salary Amount or Range: $40-$45/hour D.O.E. + Standard benefits (paid vacation, sick days, holidays) + health stipend

Description

A single parent in Mill Valley is seeking a confident, professional Family Assistant to help with both childcare and household tasks. The children are 7 (girl) and 10 (boy) years old and involved in various activities (martial arts, dance, etc.). Responsibilities include driving the children and running errands, cooking/meal prep, organizing children’s rooms/items as well as keeping the home stocked with essentials, light tidying, laundry as needed, and light pet care for their 3 cats and 2 dogs.

The children spend one weekend per month at Dad’s house which is nearby and the rest of the time with Mom. Dad doesn’t usually need help on the weekends, but willingness to work weekends if needed is appreciated. The FA will spend the later part of the week preparing Dad’s home prior to the children’s arrival those weekends.

The family travels less now that the children are in school, but do need someone willing and able to travel as needed. Mom has a trip planned to NY for a month next Summer and would love for the FA to have the flexibility to attend for some/all of the trip. Occasional travel with Dad may be needed as well. Trips are planned far in advance.

The ideal candidate is warm, energetic, discrete, and proactive. Someone organized who is an excellent communicator and flexible with a pitch-in attitude will the best fit. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a long-term commitment as they hope this person will work with their family for the next few years!

Experience Requirements

• 3 years minimum experience working as a Family Assistant with excellent verifiable references

Educational Requirements

• Fluency in English

Qualifications

• CPR Certified
• COVID-vaccinated (booster not required)
• Must be comfortable with cats and dogs
• Can travel/passport-ready
• Safe driving record and reliable car for work-related use (family will reimburse for mileage)

• Uses discretion since this person will have responsibilities in two different households

Responsibilities

• Engaging with the children in play/activities
• School pickups- take kids to activities and appointments (varies from day to day). Kids are in school until 3pm M-F
• Cooking/Meal prep for the kids (and for mom is a plus, if candidate enjoys cooking for families)
• Miscellaneous household errands – groceries, dry cleaning, UPS/FedEx shipping (mileage will be reimbursed)
• Snack prep for kids night before school (moms house)
• Unpack/pack for vacations (both houses)
• Travel with mom or dad as needed (plenty of advanced notice will be given)
• Keep kids room/closets organized- go through drawers as needed (both houses)
• Manage inventory of kids toiletries, supplements, clothing, accessories etc.- order as needed and make sure there are plenty of backups (both houses)
• Helping open packages
• Help with homework
• Help with laundry for the family as needed (housecleaner typically handles, but flexibility and willingness to assist is required)
• Work as a team with cleaning crew (moms house)
• Dad’s house- grocery shop the day before arrival, make sure kids have everything they need once dad gets there, helping unpack/unpack from trips. More time will be spent at dads house prior to the kids staying there for the weekend.
