Description
Start: late August / early September
A family in the Presidio is seeking a Nanny/Junior PA to help with childcare and keep the household running smoothly. Their children are 7 (girl) and 9 (boy) years old and will be attending the same school this year. They are involved in a variety of extracurricular activities with a busy schedule. The family is looking for someone who has experience with homework support for this age and can easily stay on top of everchanging logistics. Responsibilities include driving the children to/from school and activities, homework help, planning fun age-appropriate things to do (both school-related and for when the children are home), researching and scheduling extracurriculars, handling changes to the kids’ calendar, preparing meals for the family, tidying and organization, and kids laundry. Additionally they’d love someone who can assist with travel planning, scheduling vet/groomer appointments for their dog, and other ad hoc tasks as they come up.
The best person for them has excellent executive functioning skills, is highly organized and efficient, flexible, and great with school-age children. This person will need to travel to Napa during the summer months and can either commute daily or stay over during the workweek.
They guarantee 36 hours per week but need flexibility up to 40-42 hours depending on the week. Their ideal schedule is:
- Monday (strongly preferred) and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone looking for a long-term commitment as the family anticipates needing help for the next few years.
Experience Requirements
- 3 years minimum experience working as a Family Assistant with excellent verifiable references
Educational Requirements
- Fluency in English
Qualifications
- COVID-vaccinated + ideally current on booster
- TB and Tdap
- CPR Certified
- Valid driver with clean record with reliable vehicle for work-related driving (family will reimburse for mileage)
- Experience with homework support
- Firm with boundaries while remaining warm and kind
- Flexibility; can easily adapt to changes
- Available and willing to travel back/forth between SF and Napa each summer
- Experienced with school-age children
- Enjoys meal planning and cooking
- Excellent executive functioning
- Easily anticipates needs of the family
- Organized

Responsibilities
- Childcare-related tasks:
- Driving to/from school and extracurriculars
- Organizing fun age appropriate activities for when the kids are home from school
- Engaging the children in building their independence and confidence; holding them accountable
- Household-related tasks:
- Meal planning, grocery shopping and preparing dinner for the family daily (simple, balanced meals)
- Executive functioning for the household: researching and signing the children up for extracurriculars, planning out the calendar for the kids, handling logistics of moving tutors/instructors around based on sports/school events
- Sorting through children’s clothing; updating and donating items
- Help with travel planning
- Booking and taking the dog for vet and grooming appointments
- Running errands – returns, stocking household inventory and necessities, groceries, etc.
- Children’s laundry + occasionally parent laundry if needed
- Light tidying and household organization
