Position: Organized Career Nanny Needed FT in Atherton
Schedule: Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–6:00 PM; flexibility for occasional longer days is important + Availability for approximately 2 Saturdays per month (scheduled in advance)
Salary Amount or Range: $45-$55/hour D.O.E. + overtime compensation, paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays, a monthly health insurance contribution, and travel/overnight compensation

A family in Atherton is seeking exceptional long-term childcare support for their two girls (currently 20-months and 3.5 years old). Their eldest attends school Monday through Friday, and their youngest will gradually begin preschool part-time beginning in September. They are looking for a caregiver who is interested in becoming a reliable presence in their family. Stability, consistency, professionalism, and excellent judgment are extremely important as they hope to build a lasting relationship with this person.
Above all they are looking for someone experienced, professional, warm, and highly capable. They are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated longevity with previous families and are looking for a stable, long-term position where they can truly become part of a family’s support system.
Schedule & Availability:
- Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Flexibility for occasional longer days is important
- Availability for approximately 2 Saturdays per month (scheduled in advance)
- Comfortable with occasional overnight care
- Comfortable with domestic and international travel
- Flexibility during travel periods, including long-haul flights
Travel:
Candidates should be flexible and comfortable with traveling, or providing overnight care at their home when the parents are traveling. The nanny is usually needed to travel with them 3-4 times per year with most trips being 10 days max. Trips to England and Brazil are usually two weeks (they have a trip planned for England this summer for 17 days). Hours are extended during travel (sometimes 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and flexibility to adjust hours as needed is key.
Experience Requirements
- 2 years minimum experience working as a nanny / household manager with excellent verifiable references
Educational Requirements
- Fluency in English
- Fluency in Portuguese (strongly preferred but not required)
Qualifications
- Current on TB, Tdap and flu vaccine
- CPR Certified
- Valid driver with clean record w/ own vehicle for work related driving (family reimburses for mileage)
- Truly loves children and is warm, positive, and engaging
- Is highly organized and detail-oriented (able to manage schedules, packing for travel, keeping things running smoothly at home)
- Is flexible and comfortable with travel, as they do travel as a family and occasionally need extended hours during those times
- Is proactive and takes initiative, especially in helping manage both childcare and light household organization and anticipating the needs of the family
- Should be flexible overall
- Comfortable swimming and supervising children in the family’s pool
- Prioritizes children’s well being over everything else
- Willingness and flexibility to adapt and grow with the family as their children get older and needs change
- Is looking for longevity (family will need help for at least the next 4 years)
Responsibilities
- Providing attentive and developmentally appropriate care
- Including FA tasks once both children start school (youngest will be starting preschool in the mornings in September)
- Engaging in play and planning activities
- Driving to/from school and activities
- Supervising swim / swimming with the children in the pool
- Preparing simple, healthy meals for the children
- Organizing children’s clothing, toys, and supplies
- Taking inventory of the pantry and keeping mom updated for grocery delivery
- Manage schedules and routines for the children
- Child laundry / willingness to pitch in with parent laundry as needed
- Light tidying related to the kids
- Occasional errands
- Overnights and travel as needed; supporting family logistics and travel preparation
- Light pet care for the family dog
