Position: Outdoorsy, Nurturing Nanny / Family Assistant in San Carlos (Neurodivergent Experience Needed)
Schedule: 24-30 hours per week Monday-Friday; see schedule options below
Salary Amount or Range: $40-$47/hour D.O.E. + Standard benefits (paid vacation, sick days, holidays)

Description
A family in San Carlos is seeking an active, loving Nanny / Family Assistant for caregiving and household support. They have two children ages 7 (girl) and 9 (boy) years old. Their son is neurodivergent (diagnosed with autism, ADHD, anxiety) but also very bright and high functioning. He loves chess and reading while their daughter enjoys soccer, gymnastics, and dress-up. Both kids love arts and crafts and playing board games. Their ideal person is active, enjoys spending time outdoors and engaging. Someone warm and empathetic while holding boundaries would be the best fit. Childcare responsibilities include driving the children to after-school activities, overseeing homework, planning fun things to do, and working with their son on behavioral regulation and social skills. If someone is interested in additional hours, they can also help with family laundry, light tidying and organization, errands, and preparing simple balanced meals for the kids/family. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for longevity with a wonderful family.
Schedule / hours:
- Minimum core hours needed for childcare: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 2:30p-7p + Wednesday 1p-7p (24 hours per week)
- If willing to help with household tasks the family can offer: Monday-Friday 1p-7p (30 hours per week)
- Plus:
- Ideal but not required: option to stay once a week until 9p for an additional 2 hours per week (flexible on which day)
- Option to add mornings Mon-Fri 7a-8:30a for an additional 7.5 hours per week
Experience Requirements
- 2 years minimum experience working as a nanny/family assistant
- Must have experience working with neurodivergent school-age children
Educational Requirements
- Fluency in English
Qualifications
- COVID-vaccinated + boosted
- Tdap vaccinated
- CPR Certified
- Valid driver with clean record (family will reimburse for mileage if candidate uses their own vehicle or can provide a household car if preferred)
- Experience working with neurodivergent children
- Active and enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring, and doing crafts
- Enjoys preparing simple healthy balanced meals
- Models kindness and empathy – helping to raise kind, good human beings
- Warm, loving and fun while holding boundaries with children
- Seeking long-term commitment; ideally a few years
Responsibilities
Childcare:
- Caring for the children
- Working on social skills and behavioral regulation with eldest
- Driving the children to/from school and activities (boy bikes home from school)
- Homework help
- Engaging with the kids: arts and crafts, outings, boardgames, etc.
Family Assistant:
- Family laundry
- Meal prep / cooking simple meals for the kids or family
- Running errands
- Organizing
- Light tidying
