Description
We are representing a a family in Palo Alto seeking an experience housekeeper candidate who is looking for a long term commitment. The ideal candidate is professional and accustomed to working in high-end residential environments. This role focuses on the daily and weekly upkeep of the estate, including cleaning, organization, laundry support for the family, and kitchen maintenance.
The housekeeper will work collaboratively with the Estate Manager and private service team, while also being capable of working independently, prioritizing tasks, and following established household systems and standards. Clear communication with management and team members is essential, and consulting the Household Manager when unsure is required.
Experience Requirements
3 or more years of experience working in a private home with great references
Educational Requirements
Fluency in English
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a private household housekeeper; private service or estate experience strongly preferred
- Experience maintaining multi-story, highly equipped homes
- Familiarity with high-end products, appliances, and materials (we use specific cleaning products without strong odors or harsh chemicals)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks independently
- Professional demeanor with a high level of discretion and respect for privacy (NDA mandatory)
- Ability to take direction and constructive feedback from the Household Manager and principals
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods
- Ability to lift, carry, and move household items as needed
- Comfortable navigating stairs and working across multiple floors
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled weekly cleaning and upkeep of assigned areas of the estate
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of common areas, high-traffic spaces, and primary bedrooms
- Clean and care for high-end surfaces, including stone, specialty wood, luxury finishes, and premium furnishings
- Use appropriate cleaning methods and products to preserve materials and prevent damage
- Identify and report maintenance concerns, wear, or supply needs to the Household Manager
- Prioritize direct requests from principals on any given day
- Help organize cabinetry essentials, linens, and common household supply areas
- Assist with other estate property requests on a routine basis
Kitchen & Daily Household Support
- Maintain daily kitchen cleanliness, including dishes, countertops, sinks, appliances, and floors
- Ensure kitchen and common spaces remain orderly and functional including organization of pantry and the refrigerator
Laundry Responsibilities
- Assist with washing adults’ and children’s laundry, including washing, folding, organizing, and returning items to designated storage areas in collaboration with the Nanny
- Follow fabric-care instructions and household laundry systems
- Help maintain organization of laundry areas in collaboration with the Estate Manage
Outdoor
- Assist with the cleanliness and tidiness of outdoor spaces, including occasional furniture spot cleaning and routine exterior upkeep
- Collaborate with team members on cobweb removal and patio cleaning
Skills
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Work as part of an established private service team
- Follow household checklists, protocols, and cleaning schedules
- Communicate clearly with the Household Manager regarding priorities, progress, or uncertainties
- Use professional housekeeping expertise to provide suggestions and contribute to collaborative projects related to duties
- During family travel, assist with deep cleaning of the estate and special projects as directed by the Household Manager
- Support seasonal or project-based cleaning needs and principals’ requests (e.g., cleaning specific rooms or materials)
- Maintain discretion and professionalism when principals are present
- N95 masks must be worn inside the home at all times
