Position: Playful, Proactive FT Family Assistant Needed in Berkeley
Schedule: Monday to Friday 11AM-6PM (35 hours/week)
Salary Amount or Range: $45-$50/hour D.O.E. + Standard benefits (paid vacation, sick days, holidays)
Children: 9-year-old boy
Pets: 1 large dog (80-lb Poodle) + 2 cats

Description
A family in Berkeley is seeking a proactive Family Assistant to help with childcare and household tasks. Their son is 9 years old. Responsibilities include pick-up from school and driving to activities, running errands, preparing simple healthy weeknight dinners for the family, light tidying, family laundry, and pet care for their dog. Additional duties include house sitting (pet and plant care) when the family is traveling.
Their ideal candidate is playful and engaging, enjoys being outdoors, and is an excellent communicator. An organized self-starter who is looking for longevity would be the best fit!
Experience Requirements
- 2 years minimum experience working as a Family Assistant with excellent verifiable references
Educational Requirements
- Fluency in English
Qualifications
- COVID-vaccinated + staying up to date on the COVID booster annually
- TB, Tdap and annual flu vaccine
- CPR Certified
- Valid driver with clean record + reliable vehicle for work-related driving (family will reimburse for mileage and contribute to employee’s car insurance)

- Enjoys being outdoors and planning activities
- No pet allergies – comfortable with a large dog and cats
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds up and down stairs

Responsibilities
- After school pickup

- Prepare simple weeknight meals for the family (typical American and Costa Rican fare; no butter, low salt; family will provide simple recipes to follow)
- Tidying (child’s bedroom, play areas, common spaces)
- Family laundry
- Running errands (grocrey, dry cleaners, misc)
- Pet care for the dog (walking, feeding, playing fetch or going to the local park)
- Pet sitting (dog and cats), house and plant care when family is traveling
