Position: Proactive and Upbeat PT Family Assistant Needed in Berkeley
Schedule: Monday to Friday 1/1:30 p.m. to 6/6:30 p.m. (25 hours per week)
Salary Amount or Range: $40-$45/hour D.O.E. + Standard benefits (paid vacation, sick days, holidays)
Children: 13 and 15 years old

Description

A family in Berkeley is seeking a part-time Family Assistant to help with household tasks and light childcare for their two daughters (13 and 15 years old). They are seeking someone who is organized, service-oriented and will be a warm, calm presence for their family. Responsibilities include picking up the girls from school and driving to activities/home, meal planning and preparing simple healthy meals for the family a few times per week, running errands, and light tidying.

The schedule is Monday to Friday 1/1:30 p.m. to 6/6:30 p.m. (25 hours per week). They could potentially provide more hours if candidate is willing to do family laundry and walk their dog.

Ultimately the best person for them is active and upbeat, warm, and great at communicating with the family!

Experience Requirements

• 2 years minimum experience working as a family assistant with excellent verifiable references

Educational Requirements

• Fluency in English
• Preferred second languages (not required): Spanish, German, Chinese/Mandarin

Qualifications

• COVID-vaccinated + booster (light preference)
• CPR Certified
• Valid driver with clean record (family can provide household car for work-related driving)
• Active and energetic
• Positive role model/mentor for the kids (bonus if candidate has previous experience coaching kids in a sport or activity)
• Organized
• Service-oriented
• Warm, calm presence
• Efficient and proactive
• Excellent communication skills; excels at making suggestions and communicating with the family
• Can make at least a year commitment; ideally longer if it’s a great fit!

Responsibilities

• Help manage the household
• Running errands such as grocery shopping
• Meal prep and cooking simple healthy meals 3-4 times per week for the family
• Driving the girls
• Having snacks ready for the kids
• Help the girls keep on top of their responsibilities
• Light tidying – vaccuum, load/unload the dishwasher, straightening up common areas
• If open to doing more/wanting more hours: family laundry and dog walking
