Description

A family in Palo Alto is seeking an organized Family Assistant to help with childcare and keep the household running smoothly. Their children are 12, 15 and 17 years old. Their eldest is self-sufficient and driving, so the FA will primarily be caring for the younger two; driving them to/from school and activities, overseeing homework, and helping them stay on task. Other duties include general tidying, family laundry, household organization, running errands, managing the family calendar, and simple cooking.

Their ideal candidate is comfortable working with a stay-at-home mom who is hands-on with the kids. A self-starter who is comfortable taking initiative, relibale, detail-oriented and engaging will be the best fit!

Experience Requirements

• 2 years minimum experience working as a Family Assistant with excellent verifiable references

Educational Requirements

• Fluency in English

Qualifications

• COVID-vaccinated and boosted + ideally willing to update the booster annually (family is fully vaccinated and updating theirs annually)

• TB and Tdap vaccine

• CPR Certified

• Valid driver with clean record (family can provide a vehicle or reimburse for mileage if candidate uses their own)

• Due to family pet allergies, preference for a candidate who is mindful of arriving to work free of cat and dog hair

• Enjoys organizing

• Proactive / self-starter

• Responsible and reliable

• Excellent communication, especially regarding texting with the kids for coordinating pick-ups

• Engaging

• Tech savvy

• Experienced working with tweens and teens

• Non-smoker

• Comfortable with stay-at-home mom who is present with the kids

• Willingness to travel locally is a nice-to-have

• Can make at least a year commitment, ideally longer

Responsibilities

• Driving children to/from school and activities

• Keeping the kids on task; overseeing homework

• Family laundry

• Keeping the kitchen tidy (loading/unloading the dishwasher, wiping down counters, breaking down boxes, taking out trash/recycling, compost)

• Light vaccuuming in common areas

• Straightening up kids rooms, making kids’ beds, tidying play areas and common areas

• Household organization projects: pantry, bookshelves, closets, etc.

• Running errands: grocery shopping, making returns, dropping off donations, etc.

• Meal prep and cooking: warming meal delivery service twice a week + preparing simple meals the other nights

• Managing the family calendar: keeping it updated, printing copies for the kids
