Description

Start: early August

A warm, active, high-functioning family in Portola Valley is seeking a caring, highly organized full-time nanny/family assistant to help support their busy household and care for their children (toddler through elementary age).

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys children, thrives in a collaborative family environment, and takes pride in creating calm, order, and consistency within a busy home. The position includes a blend of hands-on childcare and family assistant responsibilities while the children are in school.

Primary responsibilities include managing the children’s schedules, school pickup/drop-off, transporting children to activities and sports, supervising homework, preparing simple healthy meals, family laundry, light household tidying, and running errands. Their youngest child will begin preschool in the fall, creating approximately 3–4 hours each weekday dedicated to household support tasks.

The family values a warm, grounded, intentional lifestyle and hopes to find someone aligned with those values — someone who enjoys nature, active children, and being thoughtfully engaged with family life. They are relatively low-tech and prioritize creativity, outdoor play, family connection, and strong routines within the home.

The ideal candidate is polished yet down-to-earth: highly dependable, emotionally mature, proactive, flexible, and exceptionally organized. This person should be able to partner closely with mom to manage the ever-changing logistics of a busy household with multiple children and activities. Strong judgment, communication skills, and the ability to anticipate needs are highly valued.

This is a wonderful long-term opportunity with a respectful, appreciative family who deeply values the relationships they build with caregivers. Their current nanny has been with the family for several years, reflecting their commitment to creating a positive and collaborative work environment.
